12 Reasons to Join Moms RUN This Town

If you've been on the fence about joining Moms RUN This Town (MRTT), here are 12 reasons to help convince you to take a chance and check us out.

1. It is a great place to meet new friends. We do social activities, play dates, volunteer activities etc. in addition to our group walks/runs.

2. Kids, strollers, well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks and runs!

3. You never have to walk or run alone if you don't want to - you can come to one of several events scheduled every week, or suggest your own that works with your schedule! Having company is great for safety and great to make the miles go by faster.

4. We aren't just for runners - we are for walkers, too. In fact, we highly encourage beginners and walkers to join us!!!

5. No matter where your starting point is, or what your goals are - you will find amazing support from everyone in the group. Whether you cover a mile in 7 minutes or 20 minutes does not matter!

6. We have a private, closed Facebook group where you can feel comfortable asking questions, sharing struggles and successes, etc. It's a great place to get advice from many experienced runners as well as hear stories from those who are in or have been in your position.

7. There are nearly 1,000 chapters nationwide (and in Canada, Germany, Japan, and Puerto Rico). If you are going on vacation and need to put some miles in, there is a decent chance of finding a chapter nearby so that you still don't have to run alone or can get some advice on good routes, from local runners.

8. While many of us are moms, it is NOT A requirement. We are open to any woman.

9. We often set up car pools for local races, packet pick-ups, etc.

10. We meet at various locations and try to mix it up with events geared towards specific things (such as our popular "hump day hills" workout).

11. You are not required to buy or wear MRTT gear - but the option is there if you are interested.

12. MRTT is FREE. No registration or membership fees.  To get involved in the Champlin/Maple Grove chapter, just request to join our private, closed Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/champlinmaplegrove/

Note: There are also several other Minnesota chapters, including St. Louis Park/Golden Valley, Minneapolis, Savage/Burnsville, Otsego/Elk River/Rogers, St. Paul, Waconia/Chaska, St. Cloud, Brainerd Lakes, Mankato, Duluth, Hibbing/Virginia. In addition, it is free, fun and easy to start your own chapter if there is not one near you.
