5 Things to Know about the 2012 Wastebasket Revue

The 45th annual event raises scholarship money for scholarships to graduating seniors from Maple Grove, Osseo, and Park Center Senior High.

For the last 45 years, staff in the has been taking to the stage to help district seniors in their post secondary educational journey.

More than $1 million has been raised over the last four decades with the Wastebasket Revue variety show. Each year, it takes nearly 300 employees in the Osseo School District to put on the themed production. For 2012, the group takes a flash back in the production of "Like, Totally Rad...A Celebration of the 80s" which opens Thursday, April 12.

Whether you’re looking for a night out, interested in seeing a District 279 staff member in a whole different role or want to support the district’s seniors, here is Patch’s top five things you should know about the 2012 Wastebasket Revue.

  • The 2012 Wastebasket Revue opens 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12. The 7 p.m. performances are April 12 – 14 and April 19 –20. The 2:30 p.m. performances are April 15 and April 21. Call the ticket hotline for more information at 763-391-7205. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older and students (K-12).
  • The Wastebasket Revue performances are at Park Center Senior High in the Alyce Marlin Auditorium, 7300 Brooklyn Boulevard in Brooklyn Park.
  • Eighteen seniors in the Osseo School District received Wastebasket Revue scholarships for 2012. The scholarships were awarded on the basis of academic achievement, involvement in activities, leadership, honors and awards, service, and financial need. Wondering who was awarded a scholarship? .
  • Preparation for the annual event takes starts each October with creation of the theme and script. Practice starts in December for the Swingin' Educators and the dancelines and cast rehearsals in February.
