• Zachary Lane temporarily closed for railroad reconstruction (hometownsource.com) — Expect detours if you use Zachary Lane in Maple Grove: a short stretch just south of Bottineau Boulevard is now closed for railroad reconstruction through Nov. 13. Drivers must follow signed detours via Weaver Lake Road, 85th Avenue, and Bottineau, and pedestrians should plan around sidewalk closures on both sides of the road.
• Maple Grove Girl Scout replants neighborhood, earns Silver Award (hometownsource.com) — A 12-year-old Girl Scout from Maple Grove led volunteers in replanting 24 trees around a neighborhood pond near 103rd Avenue and Lancaster Lane, replacing ash lost to emerald ash borer. Working with the city forester and Arbor Committee, she secured funding, organized the Oct. 3 planting, and helped bring educational Tree Treks signage to the area.
• MNA welcomes 600+ new members in historic first contracts (nationalnursesunited.org) — Nurses at North Memorial Maple Grove Hospital in Maple Grove have ratified their first union contract, locking in stronger wages, benefits, and workplace protections ahead of a planned Sanford Health acquisition. The agreement aims to stabilize staffing and safeguard patient care locally, while a separate contract at Hazelden Betty Ford in Center City boosts safety and voice for addiction-treatment nurses statewide.
