Police say rocks were thrown, a gas station locked its doors and two people were hit by vehicles after Friday's game.

OSSEO, MN — Fights broke out after Friday night's Osseo High School football game, and police say a crowd of students then roamed through town, with reports of rocks being thrown and a gas station locking its doors.

An estimated 150 to 200 students rushed into the school parking lot right after the game against Champlin Park ended at 7:26 p.m., and several fights broke out, according to a summary released by Osseo police. Officers from Osseo and Maple Grove responded.

Police tried to break up the crowd, but the students kept moving: first to the tennis courts, then to the school's front parking lot, then into a nearby neighborhood. Officers eventually issued a formal dispersal order, warning students they could be arrested if they didn't leave.

About 30 to 40 students kept going south on Central Avenue into town. As they did, police got a report of rocks thrown at the Community Center, hitting one person in the leg, along with a possible assault downtown that is now under investigation.

A group of juveniles also tried to get into the Holiday gas station, which was locked down, and several businesses called police about kids coming in and causing trouble. Police said those calls ended peacefully.

Two people were also hit by vehicles that night. Osseo police told KSTP that a person in the school parking lot was struck by a car that was backing up and had minor injuries treated at the scene. Police also told the station a 15-year-old pedestrian was struck on County Road 81 as people headed home from the game. The driver stayed and cooperated, and the teen's condition was unclear as of Saturday afternoon, the station reported.

Brooklyn Park police are leading the investigation into that crash.

By 7:46 p.m., about 20 minutes after the game ended, most cars had left and the area around the high school was clear, police said.

No one was arrested or cited at the scene. Police said more details could come out as officers review body camera footage.
