MapleBrook Soccer Association Boys U-16 team, coached by Sher Yang, is hosting the first-ever MBSA Futsal Fest over the holidays.
The tournament is for soccer clubs, teams and groups of friends at all age and ability levels. Each team is guaranteed at least three games, each game will run 20 minute halves. The games will be held in the gym at Osseo Senior High on Dec. 26 (8 a.m.- 5 p.m.), with evening slots on the Dec. 27, if needed for playoffs. Registration cost is $125 per team. Deadline is Dec. 17th.
It doesn’t take a lot of kids to participate! With many families out of town for the holidays, the games are played five versus five, including a goalkeeper. A roster of just seven or eight players is perfect, though more are always welcome. Players who are interested but don't have a coach shouldn't worry. Just contact the organizers and we'll assign a member of the U16 team to shepherd the players through the tournament. What a great, fun and low-effort way to get out of the house and burn off energy.

If you're 16 or older and aren't playing on a local team, no worries! Call your friends, round up older players back from college and enlist family members who are visiting for the week to pull together a squad. There's no better way to get some exercise, have fun and bond with folks you don't always get to see.
The event is a fundraiser for the U16 team, which is planning a trip to Italy this summer. The team will train with a Serie A coach, participate in the Rimini Cup and see the sights in Rome, Tuscany, Florence and Milan.

"This is a chance of a lifetime to travel as a team and experience soccer on the international level," said Tanya Thomas, who is helping organize the trip. "We hope our boys are learning that they can accomplish great things if they keep their eyes on a goal and put in a lot of hard work. As they travel overseas, they will gain confidence and experience with diverse cultures. We hope this will open their eyes to be better citizens of the world."
The team sends out its sincerest thanks to everyone who has supported our efforts. We look forward to sharing the experience with the Maple Grove soccer community and helping other teams successfully achieve similar goals!
