Here is a summary of Marie’s experience in the United States. Marie completed a full year and a six month extension with her host family caring for two children. She will be heading home the end of August after taking some time to travel in the U.S. for a month. Best wishes to Marie!
“The 16 Month I had here in America where the best Month in my life so far. In this sixteen Month I learned so much about the Us and Americans but also about so many other countries like Brazil, Mexico, Columbia and so many more. I never thought that in this year I would grow so much and that I would learn so much about myself. When I first came here I was expecting to improve my English and to learn about the American way of life but I wasn’t expecting to also learn so much about other countries, other cultures and that I will get to know so many awesome people here. The U.S., and specially Minnesota, really became my second home and there also goes a big “thanks” to my awesome host family and my awesome friends! Without them my year wouldn’t have been that much fun and I wouldn’t have learned as much as I did.
To any future Au Pair I can only say: always be open to new things, because there will be so many things that are completely different from your country and from what you know and learned but just because they are different doesn’t mean that they are bad. I cannot say how thankful I am for everything here and that I got this opportunity to life in Minnesota.

So at the end there is only one thing left to say: Minnesota you are awesome, I love you and your people, thank you so much for everything!”
