Boundary Creek Pond in Maple Grove Gets More Fish

Bluegills, crappies added to north Maple Grove pond as part of FIN program.

Beginning anglers might have an opportunity to find some more fish this season due to the recently stocked Boundary Creek Pond in Maple Grove.

Bluegills and a few black crappies were put into the pond May 25 as part of the Fishing in the Neighborhood (FIN) program, according to the Mark Nemeth with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.  The program is a partnership with the city of Maple Grove and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

“This neighborhood fishing pond is intended for beginner anglers to introduce them to the sport of fishing but can be used anyone wanting to wet a line,” Nemeth said in a press release.

The stocking, according to the DNR, added 202 blue gill and 10 black crappies to the Boundary Creek Pond, located 104th Avenue and Nathan Lane. 

The FIN program, according to the DNR program is “aimed at increasing angling opportunities, public awareness and environmental stewardship within the seven-county metro region.”

is part of 98.50 acres of the Maple Grove park system. The DNR says prime fishing areas at the park include the larger pond east of the ice-warming house.
