The Maple Grove Senior High boys soccer team wins their Section 5AA semifinal game against Mounds View High School Oct. 15 in a shootout.
This was the year - a time for the Crimson's turn to win the Section 5AA semifinal boys soccer game.
Last year Mounds View High School won in a shootout against Crimson at the Stadium. This year, Crimson boys soccer team earned a dramatic 2-1 win against Mounds View Oct. 15. The win earned the team a spot in the section finals 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Spring Lake Park.
Crimson won Saturday's game in a shootout after the score was tied at the end of regulation game time and two ten-minute overtimes. Crimson players Andress Buness, Max Steigwaldt, Sam Endres, and Radu Necula all scored. PJ Enright stopped the third shooter from Mounds View. Alex Niederloh replaced PJ Enright as goalie and deflected a goal attempt from Mounds View High School sixth shooter. John Fox scored the winning goal for the Crimson.
