District 279 Foundation Reading is Fun - 5K Run/Walk 2011
A new fundraiser is aimed at helping media centers in Maple Grove public schools and other schools in the Osseo School District 279.
Libraries in the will be getting some extra support this school year with the help from the District 279 Foundation.
The District 279 Foundation is hosting the Reading is Fun 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Sept. 24 at the in Maple Grove. The event is open to all.
Funds raised from the District 279 Foundation Reading is Fun - 5K Run/Walk will be used to purchase learning resources for all of the media centers in the Osseo School District, organizers said. Proceeds will be distributed based on the number of students at each site.

Registration for this first year events is open. Organizers encourage preregistration by Aug. 26. Those registering on or before Aug. 26 will receive a free T-Shirt. Final registration is Sept. 16. Cost is $7 for youth up to age 18, $22 for adults and a household family rate of $49.

- 10 a.m. Registration
- 11 a.m 1K Family fun run/walk start
- 11:20 a.m. 5K Run starts
- 11:50 a.m. 5K Walk starts
Awards for runners will be presented at the refreshment area after the run/walk is completed.
