District 279 School Board Sets Compensation, Officers, Committee Representatives
The Osseo School Board approved several organizational matters during a special meeting Jan. 10, 2012.

As part of an annual process, the School Board approved several organizational matters at the first meeting of the 2012.
Among some of the items approved included election board officers, authorizing compensation for school board members, designating an official newspaper, setting several investment and payment matters, and the approval of the 2012 school board committee representatives.
Here are some of the highlights of organizational items approved by the District 279 School Board at the Jan. 10, 2012 meeting. All matter below received full School Board approval.

- Monthly compensation for members of the Osseo School District 279 School Board was set at the same amount as was approved in 2006. The chairperson receives $750 per month, school board clerk received $675 per month and other persons on the school board receive $650 per month. The totals include the flat $50 monthly reimbursement for in-district mileage and other incidental expenses.
- Election of officers was Dean G. Henke as chairperson, Kim B. Green as vice chairperson, Teresa Lunt as clerk and Jim Burgett as treasurer.
- Designated the Osseo-Maple Grove Press as the official newspaper, with legal notices and minutes published in the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center Sun Post and the Plymouth Sun-Sailor “at the discretion of the administration.”
School Board committee or entity representatives were set as follows:
- School Board Policy Committee: Tammie Epley, Kim Green and Jim Burgett
- School Board Property Committee: Dean Henke, Laura Cottington and Teresa Lunt
- Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD): Kim Green with Tammie Epley as an alternate
- Brooklyn Bridge Alliance: Tammie Epley
- Community Education Program Advisory Council (CEPAC): Kim Green
- Continuing Education Committee: Bob Hein
- District 279 Core Planning Team: Tammie Epley and Teresa Lunt
- District 279 Foundation: Laura Cottington
- District Planning Advisory Council (DPAC): Jim Burgett
- District Staff Development Committee: Teresa Lunt
- FISCAL Advisory Committee: Laura Cottington and Kim Green
- Joint Board of Intermediate District 287: Dean Henke
- Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) Legislative Representative: Kim Green
- Minnesota State High School League Region 5AA: Laura Cottington
- Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD) Joint Powers Board: Tammie Epley with Teresa Lunt as alternate
- Parent Legislative Network Liaison: Laura Cottington
- Technology and Information Educational Services (TIES) Joint Board: John Nelson. Jim Burgett will assume role as Nelson’s term expires June 30, 2012.
