Leo Benvenuti is an artist with many credits (most have nothing to do with painting). Member of the comedy team, “The Steve and Leo Show”, produced playwright and TV writer/producer; his first screenwriting attempt with long time co-writer, Steve Rudnick, resulted in the movie, “The Santa Clause”. They went on to write “Space Jam”, Kicking and Screaming” and nearly a dozen other movies. Through it all, Leo has never stopped painting.

Leo has had a lot of fun experimenting and playing with different styles over the years. Most recently, Leo has gone back to his improvisational roots. Clearing his mind as best he can and letting his subconscious spontaneously create a background. He then has a dialogue with the work until he finds some form or meaning in it. He knows when the background is right when a face, crowd, an idea, a mood, something pops out at him. He then furiously captures it before it goes away. Even the titles of his paintings are part of a thoughtful interpretation that reflects his style, sometimes sad, sometimes silly. Leo’s process is hard to put down in words and quite frankly, even he has a hard time explaining how he does what he does.
