Fire Starts in Attic of Maple Grove Home

There was heavy smoke coming from the home when the Maple Grove Fire Department responded to the call Wednesday afternoon.

The was called to the 7300 block of Orchard Lane in Maple Grove about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 on the report of a fire, according to Assistant Fire Chief Rob Pearson. No injuries were reported.

Three of Maple Grove’s fire stations responded to the incident, about 40 firefighters, Pearson said. Upon arrival, there was “heavy smoke” coming from the home. The fire was isolated to the attic area, he said, and under control within 20 minutes after the call was received.

Homeowner Rick Verlo, who arrived home after the incident, said firefighters did a “good job containing the fire before it spread” and said most of the damage was to the attic and roof structure.
