Firehouse Subs and No School: This Week in Maple Grove

Also this week: Chamber kicks of Legislative Coffee Series.

Osseo Area Schools, and the majority of school districts in the state, have cancelled school on Monday, Jan. 27.

Classes will not be held and the buildings will be closed. All after-school and evening activities, including parent/teacher conferences, are also canceled.Β Plan to have your student return to school on Tuesday unless you receive additional notice, the district said in a release.Β 

TheΒ National Weather ServiceΒ expects aΒ high on MondayΒ near -9 andΒ wind chill values as low as -43, with gusts as high as 25 mph.Β 

Tuesday's forecast calls for a high of -3 and a wind chill of -40. Talk of closing school on Tuesday around the state has already started.

Firehouse Subs Opens Monday

Firehouse Subs, aΒ fast-casualΒ restaurant with over 700 locations, is opening on Monday,Β Jan. 27 in Maple Grove.Β 

Local owner Jamshid Fehresti has locatedΒ the sub shopΒ at 11649 Fountains Drive. The restaurant will beΒ open seven days a week fromΒ 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Legislative Coffee Series

The North Hennepin Area Chamber of Commerce GovernmentΒ 
Affairs Committee is once again hosting a Legislative Coffee Series for theΒ 2014 Legislative Session.Β  This series of meetings will be theΒ last Friday of each month as follows from January through April,Β with a Legislative Wrap-Up session in May. The first meeting is Friday, Jan. 31.

The Chamber will invite members of the local business community to attend,Β encourage them to ask questions, and provide input pertaining to the bills legislatorsΒ are considering during this session that affect our local businesses.Β Β 

These meetings will start at 7:30 a.m. and run for about anΒ hour atΒ Rasmussen College in Brooklyn Park.
