Heads Up, Maple Grove: I-94 Construction May Impact You
Maple Grove commuters who use Interstate 94 are likely to experience delays starting in March.
Maple Grove commuters who travel to and from Minneapolis via Interstate 94 are likely to experience delays and detours due to a major road construction project scheduled to begin in March 2017 and be completed by June 2018.
This project will resurface roadways and repair 50 bridges on I-94 from Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis to Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center, according to a news release from the city.
In addition, impacts to Maple Grove Transit are expected as soon as the project kicks off in March, but the project scope will widen significantly as will its impact as the spring moves along. Transit riders are encouraged to check the "Rider Alerts" and can subscribe to local transit email updates.

Summary Of Work
Work on I-94 will include:
- Resurfacing about nine miles of pavement on I-94 between Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis and Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center
- Repairing 50 bridges on or over I-94
- Reconstructing westbound I-94 bridge deck over Hwy 252 in Brooklyn Center
- Repairing tile in (I-94) Lowry and Portland Avenue tunnels
- Replacing guardrail
- Improving drainage and concrete barrier in areas
- Replace all entrance and exit ramps
