I'm a beginner - would I really fit in with Moms RUN This Town?

It is completely understandable why you might be nervous about joining Moms RUN This Town (MRTT). You may not know anybody, you don’t know what to expect, and maybe you are worried that it’s all a bunch of speedy, experienced runners. It seems so intimidating, especially for a beginner, and it’s completely normal to feel that way.

But let me tell you the truth – we are a totally casual group and we have a ton of members who consider themselves “beginners”.  In fact, if I had to guess, I would say that more than half of our 145 members consider themselves “beginners” rather than “experienced” runners.

There are typically several events to choose from each week, including:

12+ minute mile evening group (anyone welcome, but group is geared to 12+ minute milers)

Big “All Level” evening group

Find out what's happening in Maple Grovefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Early weekend morning group

Weekly run geared towards exploring a different area trail each time

Weekday mid-morning mommy walks/playdates.

Occasional non-running get togethers such as breakfast or happy hour

With all of these great opportunities to join in, you are bound to find something that fits with your comfort level. Plus, a great thing about MRTT is that it is very member-driven - so if members are wanting to organize a group walk - we can do that!

All you have to do is request to join our closed & private Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/champlinmaplegrove/

There are no fees or membership dues. It is 100% free. You are not required to participate to any certain level. Maybe you just want to join and get support online for awhile or scope things out before deciding to participate further, and that is fine too. If you do decide to join us for a walk/run/event sometime, you might be nervous to show up not knowing anybody but you will immediately find you are greeted like an old friend with nothing but smiles and enthusiasm.
