Infant Girl Hit By Car Driven By Grandma In Anoka County
An infant girl is expected to survive after she was hit by a vehicle being driven by her grandmother Friday.

ANOKA COUNTY, MN — An infant girl is expected to survive after she was hit by a vehicle Friday. At 12:22 p.m., the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address in Nowthen to a child who had been struck by a vehicle. Deputies arrived and found a female infant just shy of her first birthday was partially underneath the tires of a vehicle and had been backed over.
The driver of the vehicle was a 54-year-old woman who was the child’s grandmother, according to authorities. Deputies learned that the child and her mother were in the back yard of the residence when the mother stepped inside the house for a moment leaving the child unattended briefly.
The grandmother entered the garage to leave for an appointment and was not aware the child had wandered over towards the area where the vehicle was parked. Police say as the grandmother backed up, she struck the child.
