ISD 833 School Board Picks Jacobus as New Superintendent

With the new leadership role offered at South Washington County Schools, it is anticipated Dr. Keith Jacobus will leave his position as Osseo School District 279 Assistant Superintendent of Leadership, Teaching and Learning.

Osseo School District 279 Assistant Superintendent Dr. Keith Jacobus has been offered the role as the new District 833 superintendent. 

The South Washington County School Board voted to offered the leadership role to Jacobus following a vote on Wednesday. 

“We were pleased to have two very excellent candidates for the position of superintendent,” board chair Leslee Boyd said in a release from the district. “Of our decision, Dr. Jacobus clearly has the skills and leadership abilities that inspire people to want to do their best. His diverse background and, specifically experience with Alternative Learning Centers, and the creative approach he has in working with kids are just a few of the attributes that led to his selection as superintendent for our schools.”

Jacobus will replace ISD 833 Superintendent Mark Porter, . Jacobus will begin July 1.

“I couldn’t be more pleased. I am so excited to join the district,” Jacobus said in a statement. “My time throughout the interview process solidified my belief that South Washington County Schools is a wonderful district.”

Jacobus has served Osseo Area Schools since July 2010. In a message to colleagues announcing his decision, he said, "I am excited about the opportunity but profoundly sad to be leaving the Osseo School District. I have been impressed with our work and focus on students and have loved my time working with all of you."

Superintendent Kate Maguire will now proceed with planning for hiring Jacobus' successor.
