Lucky #13 for Maple Grove Baseball, Friday Win 13-12

The Maple Grove Legion baseball team scored a run in all but one inning against a powerful team from DePere, WI during the first game of the Gopher Classic Friday, July 8 at .

It was probably that consistency in scoring that helped the team edge out DePere by one run in a game that produced 25 total runs. 

Their opponents from DePere had spotty but effective offensive innings. They outscored the Maple Grove team 10-3 in the fourth and fifth innings, to tie the game at 12 in the top of the fifth.

Maple Grove scored a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth, and although it was their lowest scoring inning up to that point, it was that one run that gave Maple Grove the victory. They tightened up on defense and held DePere scoreless in the last two innings.

Maple Grove played Yankton, SD and Rochester Saturday at Maple Grove High School.
