Mann Theatre Closes in Maple Grove

After years of business in Maple Grove, Mann Theatre closed June 27.

“Our Maple Grove Cinema 10 theatre has closed permanently,” according to the Mann Theatres website, which also contained a statement thanking the community for “the many years of patronage.”  

Maplewood-based Premier Bank, according to an article in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, owns the building. It was reported the bank has been “trying to sell the property since foreclosing on previous owner, Scott Regan, in 2009.”

A proposed new WhirlyBall business at the Mann Theatre site from the Maple Grove City Council in April 2011. The Business Journal reported in May WhirlyBall franchisee Nick Lambrect “has the site under contract, but has not yet secured financing for the project, so the deal hasn’t closed.”

Hennepin County property tax records lists the property as built in 1991 and owned by Premier Bank with no sale information on file. Hennepin County lists the estimated market value of the property as $3.5 million as of January 2011.

Patch has contacted Premier Bank and WhirlyBall for a statement about the property. No response has yet received as of 5 p.m. July 5, 2012. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.

Mann Theatres has other locations in Champlin, Cottage Grove, Grand Rapdis, St. Paul, Hibbing, Hopkins, Plymouth, St. Louis Park and Baxter and was founded in 1935.
