Maple Grove Advances In Gopher Classic
The Maple Grove Legion baseball team must win two games on Monday to advance to Tuesday's semifinal round
The Maple Grove American Legion baseball team won its pool and advanced to the round of 16 in the Gopher Classic tournament.
Maple Grove, which hosted its pool, finished 4-1 overall. The Legion will faced Tri-City Red Monday morning at Veterans Field in Minnetonka. With a win, Maple Grove would advance to face either Champlin Park or Rapid City, SD, at 2:30 p.m. in Minnetonka.
The semifinals take place at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Veterans Field, and the championship game is at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Veterans Field.

Maple Grove finished up the pool play round with a pair of wins on Sunday night. Maple Grove beat St. Paul Hamline Red 8-4 before sneaking past Detroit Lake 9-8.
On Saturday, Maple Grove beat Yankton, SD, 7-0 before losing to the Rochester A’s 8-0 in six innings.

On Friday, Maple Grove opened up play against DePere, WI, winning 13-12. DePere finished runner-up in the pool.
