Maple Grove Is America's 24th Most Livable City: Report

MAPLE GROVE, MN — A new report tells us what we already know; Maple Grove is one of the most livable cities in the United States. The study, conducted by 24/7 Wall St., details the 50 best American cities to live in. It used more than three dozen socioeconomic measures to find the top cities.

Maple Grove, with an approximate population of 69,569, was slotted at No. 24. According to the study, Maple Grove's median home value is $284,200 and has an extremely low poverty rate of two percent. When it comes to education, about 54 percent of residents have at least a bachelor’s degree.

"A wealthy suburb of Minneapolis, Maple Grove is one of the best places to live," the study reads. "The typical Maple Grove household earns $113,957 a year, far more than the national median household income of $57,617. The city is also home to numerous amenities. There are twice as many fitness and recreational sports centers and movie theaters per 100,000 residents compared to the national average."

The report also lauded Maple Grove for its low crime rate. "While neighboring Minneapolis has nearly three times as many violent crimes per capita as the nation as a whole, Maple Grove is one of the safest places to live in the country. There were 63 violent crimes reported per 100,000 Maple Grove residents in 2016, far less than 386 incidents reported per 100,000 Americans nationwide."

Two other Minnesota cities made the "most livable" list. Eagan was ranked at No. 28 while Woodbury was slotted at No. 20.
