Maple Grove Area Schools Awarded $35,000 STEM Grant
District 279 is the recipient of a $35,000 grant from the Bosch Community Fund to expand STEM opportunities.

Osseo Area Schools is the recipient of a $35,000 grant from the Bosch Community Fund to expand STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) opportunities to local students. Godfrey Edaferierhi, coordinator of career and college readiness at Osseo Area Schools, helmed the grant efforts for District 279 to secure the funding.
He said the grant money will be used in two different ways—including the continued support of robotics programming in Brooklyn Center and Osseo Area Schools.
Additionally, grant money provided by the Bosch Community Fund will support a STEM summer camp for students in both districts, according to a news release.

The camp, run by Hennepin Technical College, will allow scholars the opportunity to explore STEM topics and inspire them to pursue educational pathways in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Edaferierhi said there will be spots for approximately 40 students to attend the camp—with all participants receiving tuition scholarships.
“This is the first time that the camp will be free for students to attend,” Edaferierhi he said in a statement. “We’re thankful for the support of the Bosch Community Fund to help us bring STEM opportunities to more students throughout the district.” T
