Maple Grove Arts Center New Classes, Summer Art Camp

Enrollment has opened for upcoming art classes and summer camp at the Maple Grove Art Center.

New classes and summer art camp is ready for students of all ages to sign up at the Maple Grove Art Center.

Learn to Draw Portraits

Starting in May there is a portrait drawing class called "Learn to Draw Portraits" for ages 12 to adult. In this four-week class, students will learn drawing techniques and lecture on drawing portraits from live models and photographs.  Composition, proportion, form, values, use of light and shade will be used to create dimensional effect. Demonstrations, discussions, and one on one instruction are important aspects of this class. Class is 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, May 10, 17, 24 and 31.  The cost is $240. Materials are included.  Class size in limited to 10 students

Art Safari

Ages 5-8

Time: 10- 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $110/materials included

Class size limited to 10 students

Instructor: Christina Hankins

Ready, Set, Create! Children will be exposed to a variety of materials and projects in this one week camp. Using a jungle safari as our theme children will learn about various jungle animals and will get to make a new animal each day while at the same time exploring and learning about different art mediums in areas such as painting, sculpture, printmaking and more. Come dressed for a mess.

Lets Paint

Dates/Times Monday through Thursday 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Session 1: June 18-28 (Ages 6-9).

Session 2: July 9-19 (Ages 9-12).

Session 3: July 23-August 2 (Ages 12-15)

Max: 15 students. Min: 8 students

Price: $125 /includes materials

In this painting class we will experiment with different styles and ways of painting. The last three days of class will focus on students choosing their favorite work and then re-painting it on canvas.

In this one week camp students will have the opportunity to create art work in a variety of mediums and disciplines. Students will be introduced to painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture and will be encouraged to take risks and get creative

Class Size LImited to 10

Want to learn more about famous artists and how they created their work? In this one-week camp students will learn about a new artist each day and will have the opportunity to walk in their shoes by trying their hand at creating a work in the style of that particular artist. Students will explore different mediums and techniques while at the same time learn a little art history along the way.
