Maple Grove Crimson Boys Soccer Fall to Minneapolis Southwest
The Crimson finished out their state Class AA tournament run in fourth place.
The boys soccer team finished up its state tournament run on Thursday, Nov. 3 with a 3-1 loss to Minneapolis Southwest in the Class AA third place game.
The Crimson (14-5-2) finished the season with a 1-2 record at this year’s state tournament—their first trip to state since 2007.
Southwest opened up scoring at the 6:48 mark of the first half when Ryan Mclean notched an unassisted goal. Mclean scored his second goal of the contest 16 seconds into the second half, making the score 2-0.

Southwest continued to show off its offensive power with a goal by Chico Molina in the 68th minute, making it a 3-0 game.
The Crimson got on the scoreboard with 3:33 to play as Ryan Saladin scored unassisted to make it a 3-1 ballgame.

The Lakers (15-4-1) outshot Maple Grove 21-5 in the game.
