Maple Grove Faces Hill Murray in First Trip to State
The Crimson boys hockey team plays Thursday.
After a over Blaine High School on Friday, the boys hockey team won the Section 5AA championship and is heading for state tournament for the first time in the school's history.
Following the game Friday, the mnhockeyhub.com reported that "no team in state history had ever scored more than 12 goals in a region or section final."
“I’ve never been involved in (blowout) like this,” Maple Grove coach Gary Stefano said in an interview with mnhockeyhub.com. “Especially in a (section) final game."

Maple Grove Senior High (24-2-2) will play against Hill Murray High School (22-6) at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8 in the 2012 State Class AA boys state hockey tournament quarterfinals.
According to the Maple Grove Senior High website, ticket prices are: $17 adult (lower and upper level), $11 Maple Grove student (upper level) and $17 student (lower level with a limited number of tickets). As of March 7, the high school said the tickets were "sold out" on its website and advised people to check with the Xcel Energy Center for availability.

The school says permission slips for Maple Grove Senior High students can be found at the information desk, the activities office and the attendance window at Maple Grove Senior High. Permission slips "must be signed and turned in" for students to purchase a game ticket. Students can also catch a fan bus going down for the game, more information can be found on the Maple Grove Senior High school website.
Winner of the Maple Grove v. Hill Murray game will play 6 p.m. March 9.
