Maple Grove Residents Sign Petition in Support of Gay Catholic-School Leader

An online petition supporting the former president of Totino-Grace High School has drawn about 100 signatures overnight after news broke Tuesday of his resignation because he is gay

The private Catholic school draws students from Maple Grove—indeed, the only bus service the school provides to its campus in Fridley is from Maple Grove

Two people identifying themselves as being from Maple Grove (and with the same last name) have signed the petition so far: 

Tom Cooley wrote: 

I believe every person has the right to love and commit their life to another person. This commitment should not endanger their work status. Totino must stand up to what can only be described as the Christian thing to do regardless of how the 'Catholic Church' comes down on this issue. The Church, or at least the administrators of the Church, is not up to speed on this issue.

Trish Cooley wrote: 

All are created in God's image. He doesn't make mistakes. T.G let us remember we are in the holy presence of God. Do the right thing ,tell the Archbishop this is wrong and do not accept the resignation.
