Maple Grove Senior High Students Present ‘Lena Long Legs’

The one act play will be showcased Jan. 23 and Jan. 27.

Before heading to competition, students will perform “Lena Long Legs” at two public performances.

Sixteen student cast and crew members will take bring the production to the stage at Maple Grove Senior High 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 and Friday, Jan. 27 to perform the one act play.

The play tells a story of Lena, whose legs are the new face of Chanel, and her journey to find her purpose when Multiple Sclerosis threatens the only existence that she has known, modeling. “Lena Long Legs” is a play written by local playwright and owner of Yellow Tree Theatre Jessica Lind, featuring original music by Kurt Kanarski and The Flaming Gizmos.
 
“With original music being composed and recorded by members of the cast, all technical elements from set, props, costumes, lights, sound, publications and production elements, this whole show has been created and manifested through the work of 16 awesome young people,” Maple Grove Senior High Theatre Artistic Director J.C. Lippold said.

Members of the cast and crew include: Anjali Khankari (Lena), Kathryn Phillips (Tina), Cory Grider (Kim), Trevor Bunce (Doctor), Kaitlyn Beacom (Stan), Mack Grimes (Fridley), Blake Dornfeld (Ryder), Tamara Stelmakhov (Clyde), Taylor Collins (stage manager/prop master), Dan Nellis (tech designer/sound manager), Mac Lorence (lighting designer), Olivia Trudeau (dramatuge), Megan Goeke (costume designer), Miranda Tilton (producer), Kurt Kanarski (musician assistant/sound designer) and Ryan Johnson (poster design).

“It has been a remarkable experience getting to bring to life a beautifully rich, honest and powerful script and we are excited to share it with the public,” Lippold said.

The students will also compete at the Conference Festival 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Park Center Senior High and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Section 5AA Sub Sections at Buffalo High School.
