Maple Grove Sites Open, Closed During Shutdown

Shutdown status of some of the sites and services in Maple Grove.

The first day of July brought with it the first day after the shutdown of the state government in Minnesota. As a result, some facilities and services throughout Maple Grove and statewide are closed until the budget is resolved.

Ramsey District Court Chief Judge Kathleen Gearin’s ruling before the shutdown about state functions that must continue during a state shutdown included cash and food support for low-income families and vital records, according to Hennepin County. State IT systems for cars and driver’s licenses along with birth and death certificates were rule as core state functions.

Here is the shutdown status of some of the sites and services around Maple Grove:

  • Maple Grove Hennepin County Service Center - Open normal business hours. DNR related services were not ruled as critical, so hunting and fishing licenses as well as boat/watercraft license registration will not be issued at any facility during the state shutdown.

  • Rest areas – Rest areas statewide, including Elm Creek Rest area off of Interstate 94 in Maple Grove, have been barricaded and closed. 511mn.org, traffic cameras and other traveler information services are not available during the shutdown.

 

  • Three Rivers Parks – Open normal hours at locations such as , and . “Our primary source of funding is suburban Hennepin County taxpayers and park user fees. As a result we will not be impacted by a state government shutdown,” according Tom Knisely, Three Rivers Park District media relations specialist.

 

  • – Open normal hours, but closed July 4 due to the federal holiday.

 

  • Lottery – Retailers in Maple Grove will not be able to sell or redeem winning lottery tickets. Powerball, Mega Millions and Hot Lotto drawings will continue.

 

  • Road Projects - Road projects in and around Maple Grove have halted during the state shutdown, such as . did reopen on June 30 prior to the shutdown.
