Maple Grove Soccer Players Battle Teams, Weather at USA Cup
The Schwan's USA Cup Youth Soccer Tournament in Blaine brought rain and heat for Maple Grove players.
The weekend tournament of the Schwan's USA Cup Youth Soccer Tournament in Blaine not only brought challenges on the field for Maple Grove soccer players, but against Mother Nature as well.
Games Friday, July 15 (pictured) were delayed several hours for due to due to thunderstorms and several inches of rain. Sunday, July 17 brought a temporary suspension of games in the afternoon due to an "elevated heat index."
Four Maple Grove area youth soccer teams at three age levels competed in the Schwan’s USA Cup weekend tournament on Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 at Blaine’s National Sports Center. Seven teams from Maple Grove will compete during the weeklong event July 19-23 at Blaine's National Sports Center.

The USA Cup weekend tournament hosts boys and girls teams both nationally and internationally from ages U9 to U19. There will be 450 teams competing in Blaine over the course of the weekend.
