Minnesota Has the 10th Best School System in America: Report

The state's spending on education is paying off, the analysis shows.

At least one report confirms that the children in Minnesota really are above average.

The number crunchers at Wallethub compared every school system in the nation, and Minnesota's system ranked 10th best overall.

The report compares factors such as SAT scores, dropout rates, reading scores and math scores. Minnesota has the second highest math test scores and fourth highest average SAT scores in the nation, according to the report.

The analysis also finds that Minnesota taxpayers are getting their money's worth when it comes to education. Wallethub compared spending vs. outcome, and Minnesota fared relatively well, with the 17th highest spending per student to achieve the 10th best outcome.

Wallethub also looked at school safety, comparing bullying incidents, disciplinary incidents, youth incarceration and student reports of bullying or threatening behaviors. In terms of safety, Minnesota again fared well, coming in at 19.
