This Minnesota Suburb Has The Fewest Robberies: Report
A recent report analyzed crime statistics and found this Twin Cities suburb had only five robberies last year.
MAPLE GROVE, MN — Maple Grove topped a recent report analyzing where Minnesota residents are least likely to get robbed. Safety experts at Frontpoint analyzed FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data to create list of each state's city with the fewest robberies. According to the study, the U.S. is experiencing the lowest robbery rate in 20 years.
Maple Grove has the lowest robbery rate in Minnesota, with only five in the last reported year. That's 0.70 robberies per 10,000 people. Compare this number to the most robbed Minnesota city, Minneapolis, which experienced 1,819 robberies last year, or 43 robberies per 10,000 people.
The Frontpoint team used 2017 FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data to determine the city in each state with the lowest robbery rate. The FBI defines robbery as the "taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force or threat of force or violence and/or by putting the victim in fear."
