Plymouth Mom, St. Paul Aunt Hid Murder Suspect: Charges

HENNEPIN COUNTY, MN — The mother and aunt of a man accused in the April shooting death of community activist Tyrone Williams have been charged with aiding an offender to avoid arrest, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday.

Sharesha Lavonne Green, 44, of Plymouth, and Theresa Lynn Ansari, 38, of St. Paul, each were charged with the single count of aiding an offender. They were charged by summons and are required to show up for their first court appearance on Aug. 16.

Green’s son Sid Strickland-Green III, 27, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the April 3 fatal shooting, but avoided arrest until June 11.

According to the criminal complaints against the two women, officers went to numerous addresses on April 8 looking for Strickland-Green, but were unable to locate him. They left a card at Green’s home and, about a week later, an officer spoke to Green and explained that police needed to speak to him about a murder.

According to police, Green responded “Oh! Not my son! You’ve ruined my whole psyche.” She then hung up the phone.

After news stories reported that there was a warrant out for Strickland-Green’s arrest, the officer spoke to Green once more around May 3 and informed her that it was very important that she tell police her son’s whereabouts.

Green appeared to understand, but insisted that her son had not killed Williams, according to the complaint.

When the officer asked her if she would tell police where her son was if she knew, Green said, “No, I would not,” according to authorities.

Officers continued to look for Strickland-Green until his arrest in June when they found him at his aunt’s apartment in St. Paul.

Ansari told police “I knew when Sharesha asked me to let him stay here she was hiding something.”

Strickland-Green had told her he was wanted for questioning in a murder, according to police. Ansari said Strickland-Green had been in her home for about two weeks, the complaint states.
