Portillo’s Plans Move For Maple Grove

Portillo’s, a popular drive-in selling Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads, may be coming to Maple Grove. The restaurant is known for its old-school style of taking orders — which are written in pencil on a white paper bag.

The restaurant's first Minnesota location opened in Woodbury late last year.

The Chicago chain is planning its second Minnesota location for Maple Grove at the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, reports the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Business Journal.

“Because of the overwhelming response we recently received in opening our first restaurant in Wisconsin, Portillo’s has been actively looking at potential sites for new restaurants throughout the Midwest. These potential sites include the greater Twin Cities area,” Nick Scarpino of Portillo’s told WCCO.
