Redistricting in Minnesota: Maple Grove Joins Senate District 34
Greenfield and Corcoran will no longer share a senate district with Maple Grove.

Maps for Minnesota’s new congressional and legislative districts were released Tuesday. A Minnesota Supreme Court-appointed panel decided the new statewide boundary changes.
Maple Grove voters will see the numbers change for their state legislative district under the redistricting plan, according to the new maps, but district boundaries for Maple Grove residents remain similar.
In Maple Grove, it will be Senate District 34 and House Districts 34A and 34B. It is currently Senate District 32 and House Districts 32A and 32B.

The biggest change will come in current House District 32A. The communities of Corcoran and Greenfield move out of Senate District 32 and House District 32A, according to the new legislative district maps, and slip into Senate District 33 and House District 33A.
Maple Grove will remains in the Minnesota’s third congressional district.

Residents can find out where they fall in the redistricting by going to the Minnesota Legislature website here. Any redistricting changes will be seen on the 2012 election ballots and begin January 2013.
Redistricting occurred for all 201 Minnesota Senate and House districts as well as the eight congressional districts, according to minnpost.com. States must redraw district boundaries after every Census.
When the Minnesota Legislature couldn’t reach agreement on a map, a Minnesota Supreme Court-appointed panel was tasked with the job. It released its decision at 1 p.m. Feb. 21.
Maps and the panel’s orders regarding redistricting are available to the public and posted on the Minnesota Special Redistricting Panel webpage.
