Services Set for Former Maple Grove Resident Killed in Motorcycle Accident
A memorial service for Steven Kokkila is Thursday, July 12 at Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church.

Steven Kokkila, 26, a former Maple Grove resident who resided in California, passed away June 22, 2012 following a solo motorcycle accident on the Sierra Highway, according to a report by KHTS Radio.
Visitation for Steven is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Brooklyn Park, according to an obituary in the StarTribune. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at with visitation one hour prior to service.
Steven had relocated to Santa Clarita Valley with his mother in 2000 after growing up in Minnesota. He had later returned to Minnesota to attend and graduate from Dunwoody Institute. Kokkila moved back to Santa Clarita Valley in 2011, according to KHTS. He is survived by his parents, Ed Kokkila and Sandra Perason along with his sister Kristin of Maple Grove.

Ed Kokkila told KHTS how he would like people to remember his son as: "He was genuine. He was friends with everybody. He didn't have any enemies. He was just a good-natured kid."
