Three Key Areas Help Maple Grove Boys Basketball Win Over Coon Rapids

Scoring in double figures for the Crimson were Brycen Wojta, Grant Kaufman and Erik Olson with 11 points. Joey Eng and Jake Wieneke each had 10 points.

Basketball statistics, such as shooting percentage, balanced scoring, and number of assists often proves to be an accurate predictor of success during a game.

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the boys basketball team put up numbers to support that notion in a 75-63 win over Coon Rapids. 

Increased possessions resulted in 25 assists and often set up easy baskets as the Crimson were 26 for 45 on two point field goal attempts. Seven players scored between 8-11 points as Maple Grove improved to 6-2 in Northwest Suburban play.

Elk River High School will host Maple Grove Senior High on Friday, Jan. 20. The Elks also have a 6-2 conference record, winning four of their last five conference games, including a 71-68 win over Champlin Park on Tuesday.
