There have already been nearly 300 bills proposed for the 2014 legislative session. It’s important for us to hear from folks in the district so we can effectively advocate for your concerns at the State Capitol.
Hope to see you there!
2) Should taxpayers be on the hook for a $90 million Senate office building?
Many taxpayers are probably unaware that a $90 million state Senate office building was sneaked into the tax bill during the late night, final hours of the last legislative session. The measure did not get either a committee hearing or public input.
The $90 million complex will include a three-story glass façade, reflecting pool, gymnasium and parking ramp. It will have offices for 44 senators, although there are 67 senators in total.
I voted against this measure, because I believe tax dollars should be spent wisely and with the utmost respect to the people who earned them. Additionally, if more office space for legislators is needed, let’s have that conversation out in the open with the public.

3) Information about the Midwest propane shortage
The majority of homeowners in our area probably aren’t affected by the propane shortage that’s been plaguing the Midwest, but if you are, or know someone who might be, here is some helpful information:
The state has set up an emergency hotline to help citizens struggling with the propane shortage. The State Emergency Operations Center will be staffed Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to provide information to Minnesotans with propane issues. Call (800) 657-3504 with questions or concerns.

As always, I welcome your continued comments and questions. I am here to serve the people and priorities of Rogers, Dayton and Maple Grove.
Have a great weekend!
Joyce
