Warehouse Runs on iPads at AK Material Handling Systems in Maple Grove

Minnesota Business found out the company is ahead of the curve when it comes to using tablets to make things run smoothly.

A Maple Grove company is getting attention for integrating iPads into every area of they run their warehouse.

Minnesota Business asked AK Material Handling Systems CEO Al Boston, and "inside sales and marketing guru" Jason Kasanezky about the company's inventory management system:

Kasanezky: Everything’s done electronically. When customers place an order, we put it in our system, and immediately it goes back to the iPads in our warehouse. We’re on a live system. As I’m putting an order through in the office, our guys out on the iPad are checking the items off as the pull them, and I can look in and say, “OK, they just pulled the 10-foot beams.”

Boston: Everybody’s in the communication loop. When the carrier comes and picks up [an order], they sign for it on the iPad with their finger. If they’d like any copies, we air-print off of a printer back by our loading docks.
