'Very Strange' Crime Incidents Reported In Mendota Heights

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Police in Mendota Heights reported "two very strange" incidents this week. On Wednesday, a homeowner in the neighborhood near Victoria and Marie came home and interrupted a burglary.

According to police, the homeowner saw a black male in his mid 20s exiting the home. The suspect was driving a black or dark gray mid to full size SUV (not as big as a Suburban) or pick-up with a topper. Possibly a Chevrolet but no emblems seen.

The suspect gained entry by forcing open a door, but the homeowner does not believe anything was taken, police said.

On Thursday, in the neighborhood near Miriam and Chippewa (north end), a suspect attempted to gain entry to a home by breaking a window on a door, according to police. No suspect information was reported and nothing was taken.

"It is very odd that we would have two daytime incidents like this," Mendota Heights police said. Authorities are asking residents to keep an eye out in your neighborhood and report any suspicious activity to 911.
