SUNFISH LAKE, MN — A 5-year-old girl was killed Saturday morning when a van rolled multiple times on westbound Interstate 494 near Pieper Road, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
The crash was reported at approximately 10:11 a.m. in Sunfish Lake, in Dakota County.
Troopers said a 2002 Chevrolet Express van left the roadway to the left and rolled multiple times. The girl, identified as Camila Flores, 5, of Salem, Oregon, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other occupants, the driver, Angel Eduardo Ruiz Perez, 20, of Salem; a 35-year-old woman; and a 13-year-old boy, were also in the van.
Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening. The names of the two minors and the adult woman have not yet been released by the State Patrol.
Ruiz Perez was belted. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.
Inver Grove Heights Police and Fire and MHealth/Fairview Ambulance also responded to the scene.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
The State Patrol is investigating.
