Six months after the grocery closed, the Doddway Shopping Center space sits dark with no tenant announced and an uncertain future.

WEST ST. PAUL, MN — The former Oxendale's Market space at the Doddway Shopping Center in West St. Paul has lost power, with an Xcel Energy notice on the door stating utility service was discontinued on or about June 5 for failure to pay utility bills.

The shutoff is the latest sign of uncertainty surrounding the long-vacant storefront, which has sat empty since Oxendale's closed its doors in late December.

Inside, checkout counters and shelving units are tagged with yellow auction stickers. Grafe Auction is handling the online sale of the store's remaining assets, including meat and deli equipment, shelving, and refrigeration units.

JLL brokers are marketing the vacated space. In February, the firm told Patch it was "just starting our marketing process" with nothing to report on a future tenant. The firm did not respond to a follow-up request for comment this month.

Oxendale’s had struggled over the 2025 summer during the Smith Avenue and Dodd Road construction project. After the construction work finished, the store posted signs assuring customers it was not closing.

Oxendales closed in early December with little notice given.

The same chain operates locations in Minneapolis on 34th Street and in St. Paul on Randolph Avenue and St. Clair Avenue (Widmer’s).
