• Gritty effort from Mayo football falls just short (postbulletin.com) — A hard-fought high school football game in Mendota Heights saw St. Thomas Academy edge Rochester Mayo 17-14 in a Northstar District matchup. Mayo rallied with two second-half touchdowns and a strong defensive showing, but early special-teams damage, turnovers, and penalties proved costly as the Spartans fell to 0-2 and now regroup for their Sept. 18 Homecoming.
