The Visitation/St. Paul Academy girls lacrosse team battled back from a 6-1 first-half deficit to claim a 13-12 win at Holy Angels on Wednesday in Richfield.

Haley Housh recorded the first goal of the game for the Blazers, but the Stars pounded home the next half-dozen tallies to take a sizable edge before the visitors rallied to 9-7 at halftime.

Visitation/SPA kept the pressure on in the second half and knotted the count at 11-11 on a goal by Anna Walsh before re-taking the lead at 12-11 on the first of two-straight Taylor Smith tallies.

The second Smith goal gave her team a 13-11 advantage and provided the necessary insurance as the Blazers held on against a late Holy Angels charge before the final horn blew to proclaim a 13-12 triumph for Visitation/SPA.

The Blazers evened their record at 4-4 on the season as Housh logged five goals, with Smith scoring three times, Rachel Mussell twice and Mia Gambucci, Kristen Knutzen and Walsh all notching one goal apiece.
