City Of Mendota Heights Announces Closure Of City Facilities For Public From March 17

This includes City Hall, the Public Works Maintenance Facility and the Par 3 golf course.

In order to comply with Centers for Disease Control and Minnesota Department of Health recommendations to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Mendota Heights has decided to temporarily close all City facilities to the public, effective Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 am and until further notice. This includes City Hall, the Public Works Maintenance Facility and the Par 3 golf course. The Mendota Heights Police Department lobby will remain open for now.

With the closures, the City encourages residents and businesses to conduct City business via phone and/or email. City Hall contact information can be found on the city website. City Hall business hours will remain the same (Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm and Fridays from 7:00am to 11:30 am). For those that need to drop off paperwork at City Hall, a drop box will be provided in the upper level entry way of City Hall. Additionally, paperwork may also be placed in the brown drop box located in the driveway turnaround of City Hall.

The City Council will conduct its regular business meeting on Tuesday, March 17 beginning at 7:00 pm. This meeting will be open to the public, however, the public is encouraged to watch the meeting online at https://www.townsquare.tv/webstreaming or live on Mendota Heights’ Cable Channel 18. To protect the safety of the public, chairs in the Council Chambers will be spread out to allow for social distancing as recommended by the CDC and Minnesota Department of Health. Public testimony by those who are absent may be submitted to the City Council at lorris@mendota-heights.com. Testimony should be submitted and received by 4:00 PM CDT.

Meetings of the City’s Advisory Board of Commissions will be held on a case-by-case basis. Currently, the Airport Relations Commission meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18 has been cancelled. Non-essential events and facility reservations at city hall by outside groups are cancelled until further notice.

It is expected that a Resolution Declaring an Emergency will be adopted at the March 17th meeting, meaning that future meetings of the City Council and its advisory commissions may be conducted via teleconference. Readers should check this site for updates.
