The kindergarteners and their parents were understandably a bit nervous as the 2012-2013 school year got under way Tuesday morning at Somerset Heights Elementary School. Returning students quickly found their class lines and old friends, while their parents snapped photos and chatted with each other and with the school teachers. Somerset Principal Mary Bowman, meanwhile, tried to be everywhere at once greeting friends old and new. All District 197 schools started Tuesday and students embarked on another year's adventures.

The kindergarteners and their parents were understandably a bit nervous as the 2012-2013 school year got under way Tuesday morning at Somerset Heights Elementary School.

Returning students quickly found their class lines and old friends, while their parents snapped photos and chatted with each other and with the school teachers. Somerset Principal Mary Bowman, meanwhile, tried to be everywhere at once greeting friends old and new.

All District 197 schools started Tuesday and students embarked on another year's adventures.

Lots of smiles and laughs, and a few tears, mark the first day of school for Somserset Heights Elementary students and the rest of District 197 school students.
