Eating Cereal While Driving Is Not Okay

Here are some of the worst distracted driving offenses reported during Minnesota's extra statewide distracted driving enforcement.

It’s maddening, not to mention mind-blowing, the things people will do while behind the wheel of a 2,000-pound vehicle. During extra statewide distracted driving enforcement, officers, deputies and troopers across the state have stopped people for some downright ridiculous behavior.

We’d say the guy eating a bowl of cereal behind the wheel tops them all.

  • Female, 37, stopped by Rogers PD, texting and smoking with dog in lap. Had revoked license.
  • Male, 55, stopped by trooper in Woodbury, looking at news on his phone.
  • Female, 21, stopped by trooper. Texting mom she was going to be late for Facetime chat. At least she wasn’t doing THAT while driving.
  • Female, 20, stopped by trooper in Duluth. Texting brother to tell him she was coming to pick him up.
  • 47-year-old woman by Breitung police. Not buckled. Got distracted at gas station by phone, forgot to buckle. Had “crashing sucks” bumper sticker.
  • Typically, we praise multitaskers – but not when they’re behind the wheel. Woman spotted in Moorhead eating a sandwich & texting.
  • 30-year-old driver cited for a school bus arm violation in Kasson. Driver was eating cereal from a bowl while driving.
  • Female, 17, stopped by trooper near Erskine. Weaving, following too closely. Driver was on Snapchat. Really. Bad. Idea.
  • Because shopping for cars is, you know, more important than looking at the road. Male, 42, stopped by trooper near Eveleth.
  • Male, 26, stopped by trooper near Lengby. Looking through items in manila envelope. Is your job worth your life?
  • Male, 34, stopped by trooper near Lengby. Making NBA fantasy draft list on phone.

And finally, this guy was brushing his teeth behind the wheel:
