The Minnesota State Sacred Harp Singing Convention, a community singing, will take place September 24-25.
Sacred Harp, or shape-note singing, is an American traditional form of a capella, four-part singing of hymns, anthems and gospel songs. Singers sit facing the middle of a square. The music has a distinctive open and modal sound, and the singing is usually exuberant, rhythmic and full of feeling. Open to all. No musical experience required. Listeners welcome. Books will be available on loan.
Dinner on the grounds (potluck) at noon.
