Walz On Minnesota Bars, Restaurants Reopening: Watch Live Stream

The plans for reopening the state's bars, restaurants, and "places of public accommodation" will be announced Wednesday.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Gov. Tim Walz will announce his plan to reopen Minnesota bars and restaurants Wednesday. Walz, along with Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm, Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove, Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Joe Kelly, and Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner Myron Frans will address the media at 3 p.m.

Editors note: Previously, the briefing was scheduled for 2 p.m., but officials have moved it back to 3 p.m.

On Monday, retail stores, malls, and main street businesses began to reopen at 50 percent capacity. Bars, restaurants, barbershops, and salons cannot yet open, however.

Walz has directed his cabinet to assemble plans on how to safely reopen bars, restaurants, barbershops, and salons beginning June 1. Those plans will be unveiled Wednesday.
