Henry Sibley Swimmers Just Miss Against Mahtomedi

Sibley's Schmidt and Pasquale win two events each; Warriors sweep relays.

's Warriors swam to eight wins and a sweep of the relays, but just were touched out by visiting Mahtomedi in girls swimming and diving.

Mahtomedi had 95 points to Sibley's 91 at the Henry Sibley-FM Grass Pool Tuesday evening.

"It was a great meet. I love meets that are that close, it makes it exciting for everybody," said Henry Sibley head coach Shannon van Oosterom.

Sibley junior Kenna Pasquale won the 2200 individual medley (2:16.17) and the 500 freestyle (5:29.31).

Sophomore Kateri Schmidt of the Warriors finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:11.06) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.78).

Pasquale and Kateri Schmidt each had two individual wins and swam on two winning relays for perfect 4-for-4 nights.

Senior Anna Hamer was first in the 50 freestyle in 26.41.

"Everybody swam really really well," van Oosterom added. "We had best times all around. We had really good showings from Kateri Schmidt in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. We had a great showing from Kenna Pasquale in the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle, Anna Hamer in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle; all three of our relays swam fantastic. So, really, overall, everybody got best times and it was a really fun meet."

The Warriors swept firsts in the three relays.

—Henry Sibley's foursome of Kateri Schmidt, Pasquale, Kirsten Totino and Anna Hammer won the 200 medley relay in 1:58.14.

—Maggie Schmidt, Mary Mettille, Amy Kuckler and Hammer finished first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.71.

—And in a dramatic conclusion to the meet, Sibley's team of Kateri Schmidt, Maggie Schmidt, Mettille and Pasquale touched out Mahtomedi in the 400 freestyle relay, winning 3:55.72 to 3:47.30.

—The Warriors will compete at Simley Thursday at The Groove Pool starting at 4:30 p.m.
