Henry Sibley's Benson Advances To Saturday's Swimming Consolation Heat

Forrest Benson finished 11th at Friday's prelims, qualifying him for Saturday's finals.

The Henry Sibley boys swimming and diving team competed at Friday’s Class AA state preliminary meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, and one of the Warriors swimmers advanced to Saturday’s finals.

Forrest Benson finished the 100 freestyle prelims in 11th place, which qualified him for Saturday’s consolation heat. He finished the event in 48.32 seconds.

Matthew Kuckler finished 21st in the 200 IM, and the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay each finished 19th.

To advance to Saturday’s finals, an individual or relay must finish in the preliminary rounds’s top eight to compete in the championship heat, or finish ninth through 16th to qualify for the consolation heat.

Saturday’s finals will take place at 6 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
